We need to reinstate the CHIP program!

Congress just allowed the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to expire, a program that has had bipartisan support since 1997.

CHIP funding must be restored. If not, hundreds of thousands of children in families that make “just a little too much” to qualify for Medicaid yet too little to afford high cost insurance premiums will become uninsured.

This will create a huge burden on Florida because so many of our children rely on the CHIP program, and when people in Florida go uninsured, they will forgo preventive care and be forced to rely on ERs when sick. And when that happens, everybody suffers. Plus our legislators were counting on CHIP money for our state budget.

Please reach out to Sen. Bill Nelson, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Congressman Vern Buchanan about this critical issue.
